DALLAS, Texas — Marco Antonio Barrera is in town and he will be rooting for Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night against Joshua Clottey.
Not only is Barrera, one of the greatest Mexican fighters ever, cheering for the Filipino.
Barrera also told Manila-based reporters in a chance encounter that he sees Pacquiao winning the 12-round welterweight title fight on points.
Because Clottey is big and strong and is a legitimate welterweight, the Mexico City-based Barrera doesn’t see a knockout taking place although if it did, it would come in the late rounds.
“(Starting the) ninth (round),” Barrera told the scribes.
Barrera first met Pacquiao in Nov. 2003 in San Antonio where he suffered a devastating 11th round stoppage.
In their rematch four years later in Las Vegas, Pacquiao fashioned out a 12-round unanimous decision.
Another Mexican fighter, former world flyweight champion Jorge Arce, also of Mexico, was on hand as well and he predicted a Pacquiao win “by decision.”
